first visit expectations

Welcome to the office of Dr. Rebecca Pounds. We are excited that you are joining our patient family, and look forward to partnering with you to create your ideal, healthy smile. Our dental office in downtown Pittsburgh will probably be different than the ones you are used to. You will discover that our entire office is comfortable and calming, with spacious treatment rooms equipped with the latest technology.

Our goal is to give you not just a beautiful smile that you can be proud of, but a highly functioning one that operates perfectly with minimal wear. Dr. Pounds is one of the few dentists in the state who is fully trained in Bioesthetic Dentistry, and she can bring form and function together to give you a smile that lasts your lifetime.

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, treatment can be done the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

Here is a list of items to bring to make your first visit as smooth as possible.

  • Completed new patient forms

  • Your referral slip and any X-rays if applicable

  • A list of medications you are presently taking

Let's get to know each other

Your first visit is not only about our team getting to know you, but also about you getting to know our team. In the time we spend together, we encourage you to ask questions, express your concerns, and share with us anything you want us to know to help make your care as individual as you are.

Part of getting to know you and providing safe, personalized support involves reviewing your medical history. Certain medical conditions and medications and can influence your treatment protocols – so you will be asked to provide a list of your medications.

IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 during the consultation visit.
